Although there is still a bit of fine tuning that could be done, today was a pretty good day for trail riders in the East Bay. Earlier today the Bicycle Trails Council busted some major butt to wrap up construction on a trail that has been in the works for a long time.
We’ve already been riding the incomplete trail, and it really adds to the overall trail network. While there are sure to be a few disappointed riders in regards to losing what was a fun section (to some at least) we definitely support the BTCEB in this one. This reroute was going to happen whether mountain bikers wanted it or not, (a lot of folks on the forums seem to never take this reality into consideration) and by taking ownership of this reroute, local mountain bikers got to make sure we ended up with a professionally built, sustainable multi-use trail built to contemporary trail building standards, with major consideration to the MTB Trail riding experience. We’ve ridden it both up and down now, and not only does it add overall mileage to our rides, it is a fun section of trail.
